Maybe a Suggestion For The Greater Good by iTheBurn
Give the server another chance to become populated and successful by sacrificing its current state; 1.12+
Does the suggestion require any additional plugins to run? If so, what are they?
Open to the owners of the server. Give us something new and challenging. Open up to the current mods and plugins.
Why do you think this suggestion should be implemented in the server?
This might sound a little too farfetched but maybe trying to understand from a customer's point of view will help you decide what or what not to do. Amber R. Monaco, a successful entrepreneur, once made an article for success, which said, "Life in the comfort zone is easy. You simply follow a routine and you can predict the consequences. Outside of the comfort zone, your assumptions are challenged. Your opinions, mindset, and belief system are tested. You must find new ways to articulate who you are and what you believe. The idea of doing the same thing over and over without question is discouraged." We can all agree that the server has seen some of its best days when 1.13 update was around the corner or it came out with a door glitch that made people switch back to 1.12+ and enjoy the server with its challenging currency system and interesting plugins. But in reality, up until 1.13, Minecraft had barely scratched the surface of vanilla content addition. It took them just one year to create more than what they had created in eight years(prior to 1.13).
I know the hard work that the server owner and his significant other have gone through right after creating the server. Frankly, I was one of the pioneer customers that saw how much the owner cared about the server and did not just see it as a money-milking-machine. I, along with a few others, decided to help the server financially as an investment to its future success. If we look back in history, we can see that even big companies like Google and Lego had changed their logo, the appearance that people recognized them with, to keep up with the competition. Just as we use almost every piece of Lego in a set to create something excellent or something that can be considered as art at a museum and later on have to break it down completely in order to perhaps make something even greater, we have to give the server a chance. I hope that you, the audience, understand the feeling I have towards the change that the server needs. We can perform a leap of faith and update the server to 1.14 even if it means sacrificing most of the plugins and mobs we have currently, or keep ourselves in our comfort zone and satisfy a few that do not like a change. In the end, we all know the truth; the server is dying.
What do you think this suggestion will provide for the community?
It will provide people with the excitement of the change in 1.14.4 | Loads of new content to not get bored with. Attract more players and ultimately more customers to the shop.
Any additional details, screenshots, or links you think may help.
Hey itheburn! Great suggestion and we have looked into it as well as did quite a bit of testing on our test server over the past month. I am working with the team right now on releasing a bunch of new content that will enhance what we all have worked so hard to build. Please check announcements in discord as they talk about why we did not make the switch to 1.14 yet.
I have pasted them here for you too:

Also, We have more exciting news to share! Cosmic and I have both been testing 1.13 and 1.14 as well as our plugins and we see there is no other way to switch without resetting and starting fresh but we do not want to do that. We instead will continue to build out this current world with 1.12 as planned but over the next month will be revamping everything from in-game ranks, games, items, events, etc. If you get gift cards right now it would be best to save them for the revamp as we have some exciting things planned! We are using this slower time when we are not advertising to revamp everything we have all worked so hard to build to bring you Infinity Miners 2.0. More news to come soon! Congrats Winners!!

Hey! @everyone Happy Friday!! As I mentioned in the Best Town Winners post, Cosmic and I are working on quite a bit behind the scenes on some stuff for further developing the server. We have some fun ideas that we have been testing and can't wait to deliver them to you guys. We gathered a ton of information, feedback, and most of all; experience over the past 6 months since launching the server. This in turn has taught us a lot. Not only about the gaming/minecraft server industry but a lot about ourselves and everyone involved. I am going to be using the #change-log channel to log all the new minor and major changes then will make a big announcement for our overall 2.0 revamp in this channel in the next few weeks which will include all the new features and information. I am looking forward to introducing some fun new elements, revamping our current rank systems, and bringing a exciting experience to our survival game mode 🙂 Hope you all are enjoying your Summer!
I also wanted to make this note. I am hoping that it will help give a better understanding of what is going on, has gone on, and the future of Infinity Miners. I have reflected this point many times over the 8-9 months with have been live with the server.
Our goal with Infinity Miners was to always create a small scale survival server that we can come to play our custom plugins with friends. We wanted to build this out slowly over a year or two even if we had only 10-20 players that came around. This was our mindset from the very beginning. Switching to 1.14 would pretty much mean that we would have to rebuild the entire server. Not only would all the plugins, configs, permissions, have to be rewritten but we would also lose all builds and everything in the world. We have both looked very closey at this and talked to spigot devs as well as active in the spigot community forums. It would be a complete wipe and rebuild and both Cosmic and I do not have the 4-5 months of full-time hours, plus the money it would take to basically create a server from scratch.
However, shortly after we launched the server our friends wanted other people to play with and we came out of beta testing withing 3 months and being advertising on top server sites for top ad placements. Meaning our server was being displayed to anyone that was looking for a Minecraft server. This made our player base grow much faster than expected, new ideas kept getting rolled out daily, and more and more content kept getting released. Then I had to take a massive turn and switch a majority of my focus over to my business investment project that was being neglected. During this time I told myself and Cosmic prior to Summer, if we take a side step during Summer to focus on our real jobs then we will visually see the impact the neglect creates as result in the mc server. We calculated that the player base would drop and took the risk to focus on our personal lives during the Summer to get some things in order. We built an awesome community of people, and have a great staff team that goes above and beyond all time time. This is something we have all worked so hard for and it's still so young.
We run on a private dedicated server with the premium buycraft packages to offer giftcards to our players and most of the time these expenses come from our own pockets. This, I have not minded paying out of my own pocket since day one of launching the server because it's always been a place where I want to play with friends.
People have personal lives and issues to take care of first and foremost and we always want to make sure people are addressing those things before devoting time to a game. I recently had to leave a massive investment project I was working on and here are the details about that.
Now here is the message I have recently sent to my staff team before having a voice call with them. I am copying/pasting it here so you can also see that we are not letting the server die nor is it dying for that matter.

Our intentions are not to have the latest and greatest mc versions, plugins, game modes, mini-games, etc. We like survival 1.12 and the features and development history it offers along with the economy, making custom content, creating a community, and helping each other build our towns. Yes, we could follow the trends and build a server that the majority of people like. I can build a network with multiple servers and gamemodes that will not only drive massive amounts of people but also a great deal of profits. But these are not my intentions with this server. Trust me man, I have been in the Internet Marketing industry for over 15+ years and have owned my own businesses since 18 years old (35 now). If I wanted to turn this server into something which focuses on the majority of what people want then we really won't be running our own server anymore. We would be creating something at the end of the day we don't want or want to play on and these are never our intentions.
We are working on a ton right now behind the scenes and excited to launch it out this next month. This will deliver more content to our existing game mode without having to sacrifice peoples builds, introduce networked servers, etc.
